Trowbridge, the county city of Wiltshire is located on the River Biss near the border of Somerset. The town is located 8 miles (13km) south of Bath. It's also 31 miles (50km) south of Swindon. And 20 miles (32km) south of Bristol. In 2021, the parish's population was 37,169.
The town was a Market Town for many years. However, the Kennet & Avon Canal north of Trowbridge, played a key role in its development. It allowed coal from the Somerset Coalfield to be transported, which led to the introduction of steam-powered manufacture in woollen fabric mills. In the late 18th century, Trowbridge was the leading producer of blankets and clothing in southwest England.
A market city in Wiltshire is located about 10 miles south of Chippenham. It's also 11 miles east of Trowbridge. Devizes is a hub for solicitors, banks, and shops. It also has a large market where a weekly market takes place. Nearly five hundred buildings are listed, there is a large Green in the middle of the town and some notable churches. The town's growth has been centered around its 11th-century Norman Castle. There is a rapid increase in housing development, particularly on the eastern edge of the town towards Andover.
